The Tarot Root: Week of January 24, 2016
Judgement

Welcome back to the Tarot Root! It's a big week, my witchy friends, because we've got Judgement to guide us through the next seven days.
Ok, so you look at this card and you are like, "Oh, boy, this is going to suck." Judgement Day doesn't really sound like a fun Friday night, you know? Or maybe that's just me because I went to Catholic school and I am still working through my Fear-of-the-Lord. If you are in the same boat (or coffin, if we want to be cute and take motifs from the card), let me put you at ease.
Look at us, naked with our arms outstretched toward and angel calling us with their trumpet (we're going to go ahead and use gender-neutral pronouns, because this angel is beyond the binary). The angel represents the presence of the divine - of something bigger than us. Their trumpet represents an important message. Luckily, our nakedness shows that we are open and receptive to what the angel has to say.
This card is calling us to take a look at where we have been and ask ourselves what we have learned. What did we do well? What should work on doing better? It's asking us to be open and honest with ourselves as we move forward into a new adventure.
So that's kind of a lot to think about for a weekly reflection card. But as January nears its end, maybe this is a good time to think about how we are going to accomplish our plans for the year. Did you learn anything in the past month from trying out your new years resolutions? Have thought about how you are proud of yourself - or acknowledged how you can do better? Maybe your whole life has changed in the past three weeks. In any case, think about Judgement as the time to reflect on how you are living now before you take the next step toward something new.
